My partner is 30 and has just gone through this. His received higher DLA and had a mobility car, he then had to apply for PIP and only receives lower now. This is after going to court for a tribunal aswell. You need a lot more points on PIP than you do DLA. I would advise you to go to citizens advice and get them to help you fill the form out as they know how many points you need. Good luck!

Hello to Watk123,

When you receive your DWP letter telling you that your current DLA benefit is ending soon, they will then offer you to apply for the new Personal Independent Payment (PIP):

When this 'multi-page' application form arrives contact or, better still, visit either of these two services: a) >Welfare and Benefits Team, at your local council ! They will help you fill in the form ! b) >Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) at their nearest office to your home ! Very helpful people !

>(Remember, you only have 30 days to return your form to the DWP), which is a deliberate short period in time, and in reality is far to short a period to gather all your medical letters supporting your PIP claim:

If not successful your chosen team will write to the DWP, asking then for a 'MANDATORY-RECONSIDERATION' that asks DWP to review their decision: When the DWP reply's they will give you a "written-decision" and the reasons for their decision: Then you can launch an 'appeal' tribunal hearing, in which 3 No. independent members, will review the DWP's decision:

Note: Your councils 'Benefits-Officer' will attend this hearing with you:

Best of luck, and good health,

John (Glasgow)

I receive the higher rate of PIP. But I use a wheelchair. When you receive your PIP appointment you will also receive a load of suggestions on travel, advising you how far it is and how long it takes to get to the nearest bus stop or train station. If you walk in to the appointment you will fail in your application, this is because they know exactly how far you've walked between bus stops, taxi ranks and train stations.
