Newly Diagnosed

I was diagnosed with CML on 8/13 of this year. This also happened to be my 60th birthday.

I am blessed to have found a great Dr. & I am due to start Gleevec in the next few days.

I am a liitle concerned about the side effects.

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis especially on your birthday,I too was diagnosed with cml and started on a tki Nilotinib in October last year,i was terrified as i feared the side effects but they weren't as bad as i had thought,i had a rash and bit of nausea and my hair has thinned,it is normal to experience anxiety and a sense of apprehension when one is fearing the unknown,I hope you go well on your medication and don't have too many unpleasent side effects

Thank you. I find that if I quit eating before I feel full, that helps with the nausea. The worst side effect for me has been bone pain. Some days it is not so bad, some days it is hard to get off of furniture. I am hoping that as time goes on this will decrease.
