Scared and lonely

Hi, I’m new to all of this but I’m worried if I don’t try and do something I don’t know where I will end up. I split up with my fiancé about six months ago, we were due to get married next month, since we broke up my drinking has spiralled out of control. It started as a way to cope as I couldn’t move out right away and we had to live together for a few months. I thought when I moved out I would stop, but I didn’t. Then I decided that New Year New Me would be the time to cut down, I went three days without a drink and that was it. Now it’s gone from a bottle of wine a day to a bottle and a half, sometimes two but it is every day. I’m scared for what I’m doing to my body and I’m spending a fortune I don’t have each month on wine and cigarettes. I don’t know how to stop. I’m barely sleeping I look haggard and I’ve put on so much weight, any advice would be greatly appreciated

You should speak to a Dr about getting in touch with a counsellor as they can help you more. To me it seems like you're drinking to fill a hole but because it doesn't leave you with the same satisfaction you keep on doing it. I've never been in this situation before but i would start by getting rid of all temptation and find a replacement in the meantime.

Hi Gems83, I am sorry to hear this. Alcohol is never an answer to any problem. If you are worried go and see your GP who will signpost you to all local help. Also your local Council they have a support department they can also signpost you. AA groups they are good too.

Others on this Forum will give you more information and moral support. Mx
