Would you like to share your pain story?

Hi all, Rebecca here from the Cloudy with a Chance of Pain project team. It's really great to see that so many of you are using this space to support each other with living with a pain condition.

I know from feedback from the Cloudy newsletter that many of our participants find the My Story article each week really helpful, in terms of knowing they are not alone and picking up hints and tips for dealing with their pain.

From reading some of the posts I can tell that everyone here has their own unique pain story and we're eager to share as many of these as possible. If you would be interested in writing a short piece to be published in the weekly newsletter and on our blog (it can be completely anonymous if you would like) please get in contact with me at: cloudypain@manchester.ac.uk

Thanks

Hi Juls43, would you like to share your story in the Cloudy with a Chance of Pain newsletter, or did you mean to post this forum separately from my post?

Hi rebecca, I was diagnosed with fybromyalgia a few years ago, but have many more problems, I am in constant pain 24/7 I get up tired, go to bed tired. Am in pain constantly, I take loads of different painkillers, anti depressants, and other things, I fall asleep all the time, nothing seems to work. I went to the doctor the other day and broke down, I was told that I had tried every combination of tablets, there was just one more combination to take, if that doesnt work then there is nothing else that would help, it hasnt worked and I am now in limbo theres nowhere else to turn, nearly every night I end up crying because of the pain, I cant stand it anymore. I just need help, please someone,I jist need advice.

Hi newportrita

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I am very sorry to hear of the constant pain and tiredness you have been experiencing since your diagnosis of fibromyalgia.

We are unable to offer you advice, but can suggest some potential sources of help: Fibromyalgia Action UK offer a helpline which provides support and information. It is staffed mainly by fellow Fibromyalgia sufferers and is open between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday on 0844 887 2444. Their website also lists local support groups, which you may find helpful: fmauk.org/contactsmenu/supp.... They also have a forum here on Health Unlocked.

Arthritis Research UK also has lots of information about fibromyalgia if you go to their website arthritisresearchuk.org/ and search "fibromyalgia".

I hope this is useful for you. If you would like to share your story in more detail, with a view to it being published in the Cloudy weekly newsletter, then please email cloudypain@manchester.ac.uk.

Best wishes from the Cloudy team.

I feel exactly the same as you. I feel I've hit rock bottom and am bumbling along the bottom bumpy road , moody and irritable and I too have broken down with the sheer frustration of it all, and of course the pain, tiredness etc etc. I've even felt beyond depressed at times. I've been told painkillers is my future, for life by 1gp. Luckily I choose to listen to a gp a bit less negative. I have enough negativity of my own! I'm going on a local 'course' held by health in mind for chronically ill people with associated depression, I'm pinning a lot on it helping! Perhaps that's a route to try? I do hope we all start to feel better.
