Should I be worried that my platelet count in last 6 months hasn't got higher than 127,000?

Hello all, I've had CLL for over 2 years, no treatment as yet, should I be worried that my platelet count in last 6 months hasn't got higher than 127,000?

Hasn't gotten better? In regards to platelets a count of 100 is a ,'tipping point' to begin considering treatment in the untreated patient. It is not uncommon for platelet counts to slide down in CLL patients.

I had treatment 3 years ago. My platelet count now jumps from 90 something to 70 something and I feel fine and don't even bleed or bruise badly. My specialist has told me it would have to drop below 50 to start worrying.

A count that high is of no concern. Guidelines suggest considering treatment when it gets below 100, but there is no danger of bleeding in most circumstances until it is much much lower, maybe less than 30. The problem with waiting that long is that most chemo will knock down the platelets even more, and when you start treatment that low, you have no room to maneuver.

My platelet count has been around 70 since treatment 2 years ago.I had major surgery(total knee replacement) last December without any problems.

Yeah I wouldn't worry to much. My platelets were up and down prior to Chemo that started in Feb of this year. During my chemo they took a battering as low as 49 but now that I've finished they are back to 220, which is really good.

No. You should be very relaxed about that. Very safe level and far from the point where you need to consider treatment and much much further from where there is a bleeding risk.

I was diagnosed with CLL in 1998. In 2014 after numerous chemo sessions I was considered "In remission". For the last 10 years my platelets have not been above 100 and 30-50 since remission. I do try to avoid cuts and bruises and fortunately at 80 have no other health issues. Good luck.
