Food for Thought as we Approach 2021

Barely the day started and…it’s already six in the evening.

Barely arrived on Monday and its already Friday.

…and the month is already over

…and the year is almost over.

And already 40, 50, 60, 70, years of our lives have passed.

…and we realize that we lost our parents, friends.

And we realize it’s too late to go back…

So…Let’s try, despite everything, to enjoy the remaining time…

Let’s keep looking for activities that we like…

Let’s put some color in our grey…

Let’s smile at the little things in life that put balm in our hearts.

And despite everything, we must continue to enjoy with serenity this time we have left.

Let’s try to eliminate the afters…

I’m doing it after…

I’ll say after…

I’ll think about it after…

We leave everything for later like “after” is ours.

Because what we don’t understand is that:

Afterwards, the coffee gets cold…

Afterwards, priorities change…

Afterwards, the charm is broken…

Afterwards, the health passes…

Afterwards, the kids grow up…

Afterward, parents get old…

Afterwards, promises are forgotten…

Afterwards, the day become the night…

Afterwards, life ends…

And then it’s often too late…

So…Let’s save nothing for later…

Because still waiting to see you later,

we can lose the best moments,

the best experiences,

best friends,

the best family…

The day is today…The moment is now…

We are no longer at the age where we can

Afford to postpone what needs to be done right away.

So, let’s see if you have time to read this message and then share it.

Or maybe you’ll leave it for…” later” …

And you’ll never share it…

Absolutely Loweez. ‘It’s later than we think’ and 'you can't do anything about the length of your life but you can affect the depth and the width'.

I love this and have posted it before but it seems fitting for this post (even though circumstances conspire to severely the impact on our ability to live well at the moment);

‘If I had my life to live over again,

I’d dare to make more mistakes next time.

I’d relax.

I’d limber up.

I’d be sillier than I’ve been this trip.

I would take fewer things seriously.

I would take more chances,

I would eat more ice cream and less beans.

I would, perhaps, have more actual troubles but fewer imaginary ones.

You see, I’m one of those people who was sensible and sane,

hour after hour,

day after day.

Oh, I’ve had my moments.

If I had to do it over again,

I’d have more of them.

In fact, I’d try to have nothing else... just moments,

one after another, instead of living so many years ahead of each day.

I’ve been one of those persons who never goes anywhere without a thermometer, a hot-water bottle, a raincoat, and a parachute.

If I could do it again, I would travel lighter than I have.

If I had to live my life over,

I would start barefoot earlier in the spring

and stay that way later in the fall.

I would go to more dances,

I would ride more merry-go-rounds,

I would pick more daisies.’

Excellent! Thanks for sharing Another reason to do things now is that as we get older we forget to do it 😂

That certainly resonates. I spent too much time planning the future only to realise there maybe less of it than I thought there would be. The thought that I could be running out of future isn't something I thought about. And time seems to be speeding up with age. Where are the summer breaks of my childhood that seemed to last a lifetime, but were only 2 months long?

Hi Loweez, that is amazing. Did you write it? I would like to share it with my family and friends if that is okay.

No, I did not write it but saw it on my neighborhood’s Nextdoor App. There was no author cited but we were asked to share. So do so, by all means! Happy New Year. Wishing you good health and positivity!
