Hi, I am new to CLL and do know there are issues with immune systems. I haven't seen my daughter in Glasgow since Christmas, I live on the south coast. A friend has offered to drive her down, he will need to stay as well as her. She is back at work teaching in a college, he is out and about as well. I am still fearful when going out, though I am slowly increasing what I do and even went into a shop last week. I want to see her soooo much, I had thought to put them up at a b& b. I do have a 4 story house, how do I manage 1 or 2 people in my home?

Hi Mal, this is an issue for many of us wanting to reconnect with family after so long a period of separation. You just have to take as many reasonable precautions as you can, and get the family members to do likewise. They need to know that compared to them you are more likely to catch the virus and more likely to suffer serious illness with it. They need to look after your safety all the time they are with you.
The kind of precautions you could take: visitors sleep on a different floor, use a different bathroom and loo, use separate towels, make sure everyone is able to wash hands after touching things you may touch ; set out the dining table so you can sit a good distance away, or set up a separate table (works well for kids); open windows to get air flow through every room you're going to spend time in together; wear a mask if you are close to anyone else (preparing meals etc), and get them to do the same; spend as much time as possible with them outside and as little time as possible in the same room.
It ain't rocket science, just common sense. The danger is not that people don't know, but that they don't always remember to do the right thing.
That is sound advice from bennevisplace. The situation we cllers find ourselves in these circumstances is difficult to handle. We have 2 daughters who live in Germany who we haven't seen since September last year and 2 great-grandsons over there, the baby we haven't met yet. Thank heavens for regular video calls!
You're fortunate to live in a house large enough to take the best possible precautions to keep yourselves safe. If you decide to have them stay, keep safe and enjoy the visit. Best wishes. Jeff
Thanks Jeff, it is soooo hard isn't it. My 2 granddaughters and 3 great grandsons are all in Scotland, I won't be seeing them, like you say, thank goodness for video calls.
Thank you so much, I found the information really helpful. I have told my bf as he hasnt seen his kids or grandkids either. This is the new normal, so thanks again for helping me see and make plans for how we will plan a visit, oooh exciting.
Our oldest granddaughter got tested for COVID-19 before she went to stay with her other grandma at the cottage and she came to give me a big hug Before she went.
That was my treat and Ian reliving the moment still.
Our family is planning to get tested before we get together before Christmas Holidays.
I don’t know if that option is available to your daughter. We live in Canada and they are practically begging people to get tested and it’s free.
Other than that, it would be a good ideas from all of the previous responses to try to keep safe.
There are government-sponsored drive-in test sites around the UK, but you have to make an appointment and you won't get one unless you have symptoms, or you've been told to get tested by officialdom.
For £129 or less? you can be tested privately, and if negative get a bonus certificate stating you are fit to travel. London, don't know about elsewhere.
Thank you for all the ideas and info. My daughter is coming down mid october, very exciting. we have to live with this new normal and I have to start somewhere. We have a big house so with planning I can make it safe.
