Lumps under armpits

I have large swellings under both armpits.

My GP says they are swollen lymph nodes each the size of half a tennis ball.

Painless to the touch but beginning to give me a stinging pain as I move.

I was diagnosed 2006 and had fcr 3 years ago. Lymphocytes are just under 200 but generally blood counts are remains stable. I don't have classic b symptoms.

I have managed to get a physical appointment at RM Sutton.

I haven't in the past had such swellings apart from smaller swellings in my neck. Has anyone experienced such lumps under armpits and if so was treatment the only option. Obviously nervous about treatment now and wondered if there is anything else which can reduce the swellings.

Thanks

Noticed one a few months ago about the size of a golf ball. I was on acalabrutinib. All my blood counts were in normal ranges. However, It was still an indicator, for me, that I needed a new treatment since counts were quickly moving in the wrong direction even if they were standard range. Starting new treatment in Monday.

I think your doc and you can determine next steps - might be based on your markers. If you are unmutated 17p tp 53 my guess is this means time for treatment.

Some other posters a few weeks ago mentioned using warm compresses, etc. Maybe a few of them will chime in with ideas.

Thanks. I am unmutated minus 13q and minus 11q.

I think it does point to treatment. They have been aware of disease progression since August last year. Although they assure me Covid 19 hasn't prevented treatment I'm not so sure.

Thankfully I am generally well.

My wife has just got used to getting back a bit of freedom. We visited the grandchildren at quite close contact yesterday so it's going to be hard for her in particular if we need to go back to strict shielding due to treatment.

We will see what the outcome is on Wednesday.

No way to know the diagnosis in your case, but I started with swollen glands in the neck - and was diagnosed with CLL. A few weeks later, I noticed swollen armpits - and went from diagnosis to treatment in 5 months. There are a number of other possible causes, of course, so no need to make assumptions at this point.

Don't panic, though - there are a number of very successful treatments nowadays which didn't even exist a few years ago. Even if the CLL is coming back, I'm pretty sure that the docs will find something that works for you, very effectively.

Good luck for either a positive diagnosis, or successful treatment. This thing can be treated far more successfully than in the past.
