Dr. Byrd on COVID-19

Hi,

Dr. John Byrd is not only a valued member of our medical advisory board and a world leader in CLL research and patient care, he is also my personal physician and a dear friend.

I was one of the many patients he called yesterday to address the specific needs of the high risk CLL population. He wrote up his advice in an email that we’re sharing here: cllsociety.org/2020/03/cll-...

Based on that advice, Patty and I will be hunkering down, mostly staying at home and suggest you consider doing the same until we have more clarity on the disease prevalence.

We will be updating our CLL specific COVID-19 Update at cllsociety.org/covid-19/ page on a very frequent basis, sometimes more than once a day.

Also, consider using our free telemedicine service, Expert Access at cllsociety.org/cll-society-... you need an expert opinion about treatment, live in the USA and wish to avoid going to the hospital or clinic.

He doesn't say anything about the sore throat symptom, that is the first thing that patients experience. We are getting tons of conflicting information from everywhere. I am exposed and very confused. I am staying home until I get my COVID test result, and probably for the near future. They are saying stay home even if you aren't sick. I am going to call my Dr again today.
