Hi Bud! Check your absolute neutrophil count (ANC) on your your lab results. If your neutrophils are low, then eating raw fruits and veggies becomes tricky. You want to be able to wash it really well like an apple, or peel it completely like a banana or orange. Berries become very difficult in that situation. Lettuce too, since you can only scrub lettuce so much. As far as I know, if your neutrophils are in the normal range, then you are okay on raw/fresh fruits and veggies - just clean them thoroughly of course.

Others here may have different information.

I think some advice says no raw fruit or veggies if you are severely neutropenic (which is less than 0.5). I couldn't give it up entirely when I was in that state, so I stuck to items I could scrub really well or peel.

Hi Budcrawdord,

Eating fresh fruits and vegetables is beneficial. A well balance diet should be encouraged.

😣Avoid grapefruit, grapefruit juice, and Seville oranges 😟

The sea has its own bacteria which are adapted to salt water, but the landlubbers that hang out in the soil and on our veg generally don't survive salt. Hence soaking raw foods that can't be peeled like lettuce etc is best soaked in salt water for 10 minutes and then rinsed before eating.

No need to avoid fruit and veg unless specifically instructed by your doctor.

A good diet of whole grains, lean meats , fish and chicken and veggies and fruits are healthy . We also went gluten free. Wild salmon , halibut sardines and fish. Rich in omega 3. Pumpkin and chai seeds in coconut yogurt

Limit overly processed and fast food or overly sugary foods if possible. Drink filtered water and we have been drinking goat milk and almond milk.

We leased a culligan water cooler it’s only $12 per month and they clean it and deliver water monthly for $7 a jug.

So far so good

I've been on a plant-based diet for decades, and did not change that when I started Ibrutinib 3.5 years ago. I'm now also gluten and sugar free. All with no problem, and am probably healthier as a result.

Plant-based diet - vegan - gluten and dairy free.

No flesh or products that come from fleshy creatures.

Vegan is for last 10 years. I was vegetarian for 30 years before that.
