Acute ankle pain

Hi, I wonder if anyone else has experienced sudden onset of acute joint pain. I am a year post FCR chemo for CLL. Suddenly started with acute ankle pain bilaterally in my ankles and feet. After 3 weeks of anti inflammatory medication and pain killers, the symptoms remain the same. Struggle to walk even short distances, where as I normally walk with no problems at all.

My GP has sent me for numerous blood tests to try and determine the cause - awaiting results.

What did ur hematologist say? I am 15 months post FCR. No issues. I take magnesium glycinate 400 to keep cramps/ leg in control in one leg.

Try Claritin without D.

If you have no clots or problems in ankle area after tests then try these OTC products. 💕

Thank you. I see my GP in 3 days time, but not due to see my Haematologist until December.

You used the word acute. I would think you could call your hematologist office to let the doctor decide if waiting till December is a good idea or not.

Thank you delsyn. I have wondered about trying a TENS machine. I'll see what the outcome of my GP visit is and then consider that and the physio route.

Whenever I see my haematologist, 3 plus years after FCR he always tells me to contact the clinic if I have problems between appointments. He even states this in the letter to my GP.

Would a phone call to the hospital haematology clinical nurses be a start? I’ve always found them very good with better and quicker access to the consultant than me. I’m in the UK.

Hello Kingfisher20

I started fast walking 3+ miles a day before I started treatment a year ago. I have had random pains in tendons in feet and legs. Generally last 3-6 weeks then I am fine. I currently have strained hamstring and stopped walking to allow it to heal. How I came by strained hamstring just walking I don't know. My wife works in hospital physical therapy department so she is always giving me exercises and has TENS unit, but pain not that bad for me.

Hiya! I am 12 months post FCR. I have no symptoms at all... but while write - the middle fingers on both hands are painful. I have Haemochromatosis as well and that is related to arthritis - and have hung on to bicycle handles for years - maybe thats the cause.

Ankles - bilateral - needs a diagnosis. In context of CLL and FCR needs the input of the Haematologist and a Rheumatologist. Lets hope your GP is on the case.

Hoping a solution if found.
