Hi - I have completed 4 rounds of BR and the 5th one has been postponed due to low neutrophils. The neutrophils are still low, after 9 weeks, and the doctor is considering discontinuation of chemo, given that my results returned to normal after the 1st treatment.
I asked for the second opinion and the other doctor mentioned stopping the therapy, but introducing the “maintenance” therapy with Rituximab every 3 months.
Has anyone gone through this type of maintenance? What is your experience? How long would that maintenance be?
Thanks

Rituxan maintenance therapy is often used for Follicular lymphoma, but is not a standard of care for CLL. Most doctors who prescribe it are more NHL oriented. That being said, your doctor, if a CLL specialist, may be able to give you a good reason for going that route. I would ask a lot of questions though.
Thanks for your reply. I agree that it’s not a CLL standard of care, that’s why I asked the group. The doctor who suggested it is a hematologist oncologist, but not a CLL specialist. I’ll discuss her rationale with my regular hematologist oncologist. Thanks again
