Its part of a group of markers that distinguises CLL from other close cousins,... peripheral blood, is your blood sample rather than a bone marrow biopsy... just a reference.

Not sure what it is... the diagnosis of CLL requires more markers as per the iwCLL 2018 Guidelines

1.2. Immunophenotype

CLL cells co-express the surface antigen CD5 together with the B-cell antigens CD19, CD20, and CD23. The levels of surface immunoglobulin, CD20, and CD79b are characteristically low compared to those found on normal B cells. 10-12 Each clone of leukemia cells is restricted to expression of either kappa or lambda immunoglobulin light chains. 10 It should be noted that the expression of CD5 can also be observed in other lymphoid malignancies, such as mantle cell lymphoma. 13 A recent, large harmonization effort has confirmed that a panel of CD19, CD5, CD20, CD23, kappa and lambda is usually sufficient to establish the diagnosis. 14 In borderline cases, markers such as CD43, CD79b, CD81, CD200, CD10, or ROR1 may help to refine the diagnosis.

I have CD5 "Mod", Kappa Light Chain "Dim on B cells", and Lambda Light Chain "Neg on B cells", and CD 45 "98%". Does anybody know what these parameters might mean ? Am on Watch and Wait protocol.

Hi, when I was diagnosed, one lab did the histopathology and gave similar results. The hematologist took that plus other tests, such as FISH, and gave me the diagnosis. So it is not the whole picture, but the other comments you got show that it can be CLL. Your hematologist needs to tell you officially though. In early stages, the standard treatment is nothing, just monitor you, or as they say "watch and wait". We all hope to stay in that stage for years, and many do!
