Dr. Wierda on the paradigm shift in CLL.

Dr. Wierda is my doctor and in the short time I met with him in 2017, I didn’t get the impression he was the type to sugar coat anything. He tells it like it is. That’s why this video struck me. I’ve seen the level of excitement increase in the short time I’ve been on W&W not only with his interviews, but all over the CLL world. I’m particularly happy with what he says at the end of the video. Hope you enjoy...I like posting good news to give us hope!

Baq, he is my doctor as well. My last visit with him in July and he told me the I +V clinical trial was showing deep response and that there is a cure in this trial. STAY STRONG J.R.

I am on one of the Ibrutinib/Venetoclax trials. My specialist, who was trained at MD Anderson, is the lead physician for the trial at my location. He is positively giddy when he talks about the results they are seeing on these trials. He truly expects there to be a cure within 5 years.

A cure. My word. I thought I was all calm and accepting but that has brought tears to my eyes. Not just for us but for everyone coming after.

Cure :) I love it. And he’s only talking a few years down the road.

A very nice way to start my morning. “Hope is a good thing...maybe the best of things. And a good thing never dies.”

Baq you are right about Dr. Wierda! He doesn't sugar coat anything and he's predicted my progression to the month! Once I told him I thought he was wrong and he asked me how - that he didn't like to be wrong. :>)

Of course it was me that was wrong. At my last visit he told me I was in complete remission and he does expect me to get to MRD negative but he didn't say when. Cure! JR keeps staying it's coming - sooner rather than later.
