Best to try and stay off alcohol during treatment but we all need a treat.

So stay off alcohol for the first two weeks of each cycle as kidneys are working very hard to get rid of all the toxic chemicals.

Weak shandy perhaps. Remember to be careful in the sun.

Why is the sun to be watched more than usual

He will burn easily. Skin cancer a risk. Also I was told by the chemo nurse that the sun could turn me into a giraffe colour and patchy.

Early morning and late afternoon sun only with factor 30.

Life sounds depressing for 6 months but it’s worth it.

We do need to be extra careful with the sun. I had a 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch spot cut out 3 weeks ago just got my skin biopsy back no cancer. And it's healing fast. Wishing the very best to Everyone.

I did FCR last summer - I had to forego playing cricket so had to watch instead - sometimes with a beer, and always covered up from the sun. I'm back playing now so the positives will come quickly! Good luck

My husband, who loves beer, is now drinking a non-alcoholic beer. Not quite the same, but he says the taste isn’t too bad and it gives him the feeling of being more normal. It’s another way to get fluids in, without putting the stress on the kidneys.

I'm no alcoholic but I have always enjoyed a daily cocktail and wine with dinner. My doc said there's no harm in moderation but strangely enough, since starting treatment I have no taste or desire for alcohol and haven't had any. As my nutritionist told me, "Listen to your body - it tells you what it wants. Eat what you crave." That's been good advice.

Tim, my husband agrees......he used to love "Spotted Cow" beer, and had one last weekend....and said it did not taste good.......back to the NA beer for him...

I can’t swear to it but I’m pretty sure after consuming 2 beers on two different occasions last month it made my liver enzymes increase to the point that my dr delayed this month’s FCR cycle for two weeks.

But every one is different.
