Certainly diarrhoea is quite common on ibrutinib occuring in more than 30% of patients.

You need to discuss this with your doctor this week and see what they suggest to resolve the problem. Put a call into your clinic and request a phone consultation.

Try increasing you water intake... you need to keep very well hydrated. The time of day you take your pills makes a difference,..

My CLL specialist calls me his queen of diarrhea. Have had it off and on since starting Ibrutinib in September and got worse when Venetoclax was added. Normal diarrhea drugs, both prescription and over the counter, did not phase it. Nor did diet, additional water and changing when I took it. The only thing that really worked for me is a drug called Cholestyramine (US). It is an anti cholesterol drug that has a side effect of constipation. So it is an off label use. It comes in packets and you mix it with water or juice. You have to play around with the dosage to keep from getting constipated, but it has really helped me. I now only have to take it occasionally 1-2 a month.

Diarrhea can really affect your quality of life. Hope you find someway to take care of it.

You're so right about cholestyramine. My husband took that along with other medication when he had C-Diff, and it helped him a lot. They use it a lot for people who have had their gall bladder removed and now have problems. Hope it works well for you!!

Yes, had mine out in June and started Ibrutinib in August. A double whammy!

Yes. It certainly was!! Hope you'll soon be feeling well again. Takes a while, but you'll get there!!!

I've been on it for a year and a half now. I know that's a side effect that's common, but I haven't been affected by it. Talk to your doctor. There must be something he can prescribe to help.

My husband had horrible diarrhea from Ibrutinib even when dose reduced unfortunately he had to stop taking it it’s a shame because it worked so well. He also has Crohn’s disease and short bowel so I’m sure that didn’t help. Can’t wait for alacaibrutinib to be fda approved I am hoping this will give him less diarrhea
