Is anyone aware of a connection that could explain a sudden onset of erratic heart rate during pneumonia which began 3 weeks ago (34-215bpm) and blood pressure ranging from 119-176/62-115) i? Anyone else seen this?

Drug related?

Don't think so. Not on anything apart from antibiotics and a steroid inhaler.

Corticosteroids can effect potassium which can effect the heart... depending on dose...you need to see your cardiologist ASAP.

My own experience with prednisone, lead to all kinds of heart irregularities...

I have no idea if an inhaler can cause this, but you need to persuit it, before you have problems.

Hi Chris,

That's interesting to me since I now realise, now on Ibrutinib with Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation, that I first experienced fluctuating heart beats whilst on prednisone( and leukeran) and actually collapsed after treatment finished. This all may be coincidence and unrelated. My fluctuations have improved with alcohol abstinence, more exercise and gradual planned weight loss.

Sounds familar to me David... my A.fib started on RCHOP, and doxirubicin certainly didn't help. It got worse on my brief adventure on Imbruvica (ibrutinib).

I have been off my Merlot cure for over a year and try and exercise daily however falling Hgb levels restricted most physical activity last year.

But now, on Zydelig (idelalisib) and back to daily walks, rebuilding my heart ... ❣️❣️❣️

Keep at it... I lost 125lbs over 18 months and it has been a new lease on life... 🚶🏻🚶🏻🚶🏻🚶🏻

I am presently in remission however receive IVIG every month to boost my immune system. However over the last 4 months my pulse has been erratic after treatment. This month however it was down at 34 before treatment with my blood pressure being fine. Ive been referred to a cardiologist for this. Ive been constantly getting palpitations which makes me feel a bit yucky. X

Interesting. Could this be infective? Also oddly if I drink LOADS of water and I mean LOADs my variability improves a bit too. Dunno if that would work for you.
