Bleeding

Though my numbers as recently reported are good I've noticed recently that even the slightest scrape bleeds like mad. I also have instances of under skin bleeding ( it's got some fancy name).

Just read online that Vitamin K will or might help with clotting. By the way my platelet count is 113x

Any experience with K?

Ibrutinib can effect platelets and it has nothing to do with the count... if you are seeing petechia... bleeding dots or brusing under the skin, it should be noted by your CLL specialist.

Vit K is a Warfarin, antidote, so if you are on blood thinners talk to your cardiologist, but Warfarin is contra indicated with Imbruvica (ibrutinib) but I know a few patients on both...

I bled quite a bit on Imbruvica (ibrutinib), I hope you are monitoring your urine and stools for signs of changes...

More about this adverse event...

Thanks the underbskin bleeding has been noted by my Dr. Usually clear in a day or so. It's cuts that are troublesome. Yes I monitor the rest

I am the same it seems all of a sudden. Just put a bandage on my finger it would not stop bleeding. I also have two purple spots on the inside of both knee's . Think it's called purpura. My platelets have been falling I think that has something to do with it. See my oncologist next week it's my 6 month visit get to see how far they dropped. Wishing you the best.

I take many vitamins including K. I have found over the 35 years when I forgot or didn't have the money for the K, I would start bruising more. And I had the "red burning rash" I called it occasional under the skin bleeding. I don't know the name either.

So I say Yes to the K. I've been out of it for quite some time and I have unexplained bruises all over me.

I believe vitamin K is a must have!

I have been on ibrutinib for over 16 months and doing well. I also have the tiny red spots that indicate slight bleeding under the skin. They are called pettichae. (My spelling may be off.) I have them scattered at various places on my body, with the exception of my face. Also, when I bump myself, as I seem to frequently do on the corner of our coffee table, I bruise easily and it takes a while to dissipate. But my platelets are good. I have been told by my oncologist to watch out for things such as bleeding gums, blood in the urine or stool, or cuts that seem to not heal quickly. I have seen none of that. I have also been told not to take NSAID drugs such as aspirin and ibuprofen. He said "once in a while" is OK and I am good about that. So far I seem to be good. I don't know anything about Vitamin K, but if you seem to bleed easily I would definitely tell your doc.
