Imbruvica and pain meds

I'm interested in knowing if there are any anti-inflammatory drugs like Celebrex that one can take while on Imbruvica. If not, are there other options? Tylenol does absolutely nothing for my husband's pain management.

My Doctor referred me to a rheumatologist who then prescribed Plaquenil for pain management. It took 2-3 weeks to fully kick in but I've been on it for 10months now and it has been WONDERFUL! Now I know it is also used for malaria (which I don't have) but I am telling you now it is wonderful. Good luck! Anna

I went on D, calcium, magnesium, biotin, potassium supplements for my joint pain and drank 2-3 liters of water a day. I also did epsom baths at night. Tylenol was useless for me also. After 6 months of pain it's finally more or less gone.

I'm no longer on imbruvica, but took mobic while on it. Apparently some anti inflammatory drugs aren't effective universally. What works for me or you might not for another. Some trial and error may be needed. Tylenol did nothing for me, hasn't for years, but I have other cancers as well and heavy marrow involvement and four herniated disks. I've had to move up to stronger medications.

One caution however, even many seemingly innocent drugs pose conflicts with the new inhibitors due to certain chemicals. Example, I had to stop Tagamet/cimetidine on venetaclax. Ditto for provigil, which was helping me stay awake. There is no official one size fits all list of which do and don't conflict. These drugs can either increase the effect of the chemo drug, or decrease it. Others can cause very serious side effects. I don't touch any drug or supplement no matter how generic and common it seems without checking with my CLL specialist. Failing that you can call the drug company. Their pharmacist should know. They may even assign a nurse to follow your case on a regular basis or be availableff for questions. Ask what help they can offer.

Best, beth

I had been on NSAIDs for a number of years for severe OA. I was on Volteran when I had to start taking Imbruvica and then had to stop because of the bleeding potential. I now take 1 Aleve a day to help as well as 1 arthritis strength tylenol in AM and the PM. Doesn't do a lot for pain but when I have to stop using it as for surgery/procedure I sure can tell it is gone. Everyone is right... different things work for different peiople. Hope that ya'll get relief soon.

I took 1/2 norco 2 times a day. The bone pain really interfered with my lifestyle... I could barely walk. The norco did wonders for me. Now, I'm on Venetoclax and the bone pain is gone.

My neighbor has mantle cell lymphoma (I am the one with CLL) and she has had a terrible time with pain. She was taking 2 Norco's when she needed it and it didn't last long. Finally her oncologist sent her to a pain management and he prescribed an extended release morphine to take along with the Norcos. She can't walk either because of neuropathy and is currently waiting on approval for help for Ibrutinib and Valcade. I hope she gets it soon. The main thing the pain management doctor told her was that she needed to try to stay on top of the pain and not wait until it really got going. She just hated having to take all of that stuff but when you need it, you NEED it.
