I was dx 4 years ago with Cll at 48 and had a quadruple bypass last year. Blood thinners?

A quick question. As I am taking blood thinners, could this affect me going on a clinical trial in the future?

I'm on Riveroxiban and was offered a trial.

However, the problem may not be a simple one. It all depends upon the interaction between drugs. This is also not simple because there is little research in respect of cll treatments and blood thinning medication.

During FCR I was taken off Riveroxiban due to low platelets. However when I was told it was ok to continue with the thinner I got a massive reaction in the form of a serious drugs rash and was hospitalised for two weeks.

The truth is everyone is susceptible to drug side effects. The more drugs you are taking the more chance of a reaction.

As more data is collected the medics will obtain more experience in this area but,of course , with new cll drugs appearing all the time it is back to square one each trial.

Hope this helps somewhat?

Geoff
