Ibrutinib has been a breakthrough for many CLL patients with a more aggressive form of the illness. But in cancer care there is no "free lunch." The drugs are powerful and can have side effects. Some people are more affected than others. For Lisa Minkove of Seattle Ibrutinib gave her her life back - for awhile. But she experienced muscle pain that became debilitating. Was there something that might work better? She found it one day in the park when she met a man and his dog. The dog had been wearing goggles because the man had been riding with the dog in his convertible. Lisa chatted and commented on the cute dog saying she had had one too. She mentioned she was trying to keep moving in spite of her "CLL". Turns out the man was a scientist who had helped develop idealisb and now was working on yet another drug for CLL. A trial was opening up. Lisa eventually joined that trial. Of course it's totally investigational. But she is doing well and no muscle pain. I interviewed Lisa on video and your may enjoy her story: patientpower.info/video/lis...
