"It is estimated that about fifty per cent of pharmaceuticals bought online are fake. It ranges from anti cancer drugs, aspirin, to Viagra. Car parts is another area rife with counterfeit products. Fakes are found in anything of value: wine whisky and watches. Sofmat UK is working with the University of Bradford developing markings on products as small as pills which will instantly reveal authenticity. The markings are in the form of a QR barcode. They are invisible and undetectable by touch."

Elaine Brown, Senior Lecturer Mechanical and Process Engineering, University of Bradford UK and Phillip Harrison, Managing Director, Sofmat Ltd of North Lincolnshire UK are interviewed by Robyn Williams from Australia's ABC Radio National Science Show.
