Each year, more than 12,000 Australians are diagnosed with one of more than 117 subtypes of blood cancer – each is considered a rare cancer. Collectively, the mortality rate for blood cancer is among the highest for all cancers and the treatment costs are the most expensive.

At any one time, hundreds of people are trying to access new drugs in a bid for life, but for most of them these drugs are either too expensive or not yet approved in Australia."
