CLL manifests in a wide spectrum of autoimmune dysfunction from immune non response to pathogens to auto immune attacks on self as in ITP (Idiotype Thrombocytopenia Purpura), AIHA (Auto-Immune Hemolytic Anemia) and non hemic autoimmune conditions affecting other organs than the blood. Mechanisms that causes each disease expression are largely unknown as is the cause for CLL itself. Little by little these elusive questions are being pieced together. This article is slightly off a direct connection to CLL but I thought highly relevant.
You can add Mixed Connective Tissue Disease to the list of correlated autoimmune diseases -- My CLL was diagnosed a few weeks after I received the MCTD diagnosis.
From what i have researched, CLL can be a cause of autoimmune-like diseases, the difference being that cll is a secondary cause. People do die of autoimmune vascultis which is cll-induced
