As the writer states in the comments section "The important caveat is that the health risks are from sedentary behaviour measured during waking hours."

Photo: Fence post top on a recent rather cool (for Australia) morning. It's very tempting to stay in a warm room with a cosy wood fire crackling away in the slow combustion heater when there's a heavy frost awaiting you outside.

There is no doubt that we all spend far too much time sitting and this becomes an ever worsening situation as we get older of course. The human body is designed for movement and this also keeps the lymphatic system working correctly.

I do try and spend time sitting... But on my bicycle seat...!!! Does that count.?

Sitting on a bicycle seat better count as I'm getting some exercise while reading and peddling - on an exercise bicycle I hasten to add!

As long as your muscles are contracting and expanding and you are moving your body, that should get the lymphatic system draining.
