It is worth applying. I didn’t think my daughter would get it either for her Autoimmune Hepatitis. Let the DLA decide if you can get it. Lois at CLDF can help with your application form. Good luck.

It completely depends on how much extra help the child needs compared to other children their age. Symptoms like excessive itching, loads of meds all day and feeding tubes often contribute to it being given. It's always worth a try.

Hi DLA is awarded on a needs basis only. CLDF can help you with your application/ appeals/ tribunal. Email cfofficer@childliverdisease.org for more info and a support pack.

Hi. My daughter only got DLA once she was on the transplant list and then for a year or so after transplant. I would apply though and if they reject then ask for the mandatory reconsideration. If Kings has a social worker for the ward use them to help ensure you have put enough in the application form. The form itself is more geared up for physical disabilities or those that impede development so you have to make sure you spell out all of the extra care your child needs.

Good luck x
