Hi I hope your little girl is doing well. As for your question it all depends on how well the kasai has worked and if there are any complications such as infection. I have an 8 year old son by 4 months old the doctors started talking about transplant because he had had infections and was struggling to thrive but he turned a massive corner at 9 months old and so far hasn’t needed a transplant. His doctor are hopeful that he can make it to adulthood before he may need a transplant. I would try to focus on what is happening now and not worry about too far ahead. Things can go wrong but a lot of the time they can be overcome. On Facebook there is a group called liver mums it’s really supportive and what ever you may face with you little girl you will find someone who has been through it and can help you.

Hi congratulations on the birth of your daughter and sorry to hear she has BA. Nobody can say how long the Kasai will last. It depends on lots of things like when and where it is done, the skill of the surgeon, the type of BA. Also maybe its fate or Gods will. Some centres use different drugs post kasai which they feel gets a better result. Look up Professor Kellys article on outcomes in Biliary Atresia (sorry I don't have the link for it).

Our daughter is 13years old with just Kasai no transplant and takes no medication. She leads a very full and normal life.

My advice is to keep your daughter well hydrated and make sure she has all her medicines but most important is to enjoy life together do family things and have BA free time going for a walk and take lots of photos so when she is older you can show her what a brave girl she was and continues to be.

Hope and hugs

X

Tq carvellkm & vint Your post were really encouraging, my baby girl had kasai at 76 days, we know that it’s a bit late, but we hope that the kasai is working on her, so far after 1 week of post kasai, her bilirubin is finally going down.. I really hope that she won’t need to do the liver transplant since in malaysia we don’t have it here.. and we know it’s going to be really expensive if we do at other country. Which is we can’t afford it. Help me to pray for my bby.
