Our child was normal till 60 days and after that her eyes were turning yellow followed by skin and after consultation with senior Dr's. We came to know it's biliary atresia and surgery was done at 67th day at chennai, India.

After that we had several admission for cholangitis for almost 5 months and her direct bili came to .6.

Then she was normal for 6 months .now again came for admission for elivated bili value of 12 and also her creatinine went up to 5 in both urine and blood. We were advised to keep her hydrated as much as possible. Now waiting for liver surgeon opinion for further course. Is anybody went through this phase, pls share whether bili value came down and what next course of action

Hi, First relax urself and get good positive thoughts because its the only thing v can come over hard times. I don't know whether it will be relevant to you,but here my experience.

After surgery it was 6 for almost a month and she had 5 times cholangitis and high fever ,every time v had to give IV treatment for 7 to 14 days and after 6 months her bili level came to .6 and got settled at 1 before 5 months.

But after 1,yr now again her bili value went to 12 and not settled down so we are advised to meet senior liver surgeon tomorrow hoping no shock is cmng our way.

Pls keep in mind that you have to monitor her poop color and urine color always any change u can consult ur surgeon.

Feed her well and then don't worry ur baby is a normal baby only and all the above god is there to take care of little angels

Hi our daughter had a late kasai at 14 weeks old. The following six weeks were a grim waiting game to assess its worth. However she recovered and we went home feeding her through a tube in her nose/stomach for a long time. In the first 18 months her levels went up and down and we needed some emergency care a couple of times. Keeping hydrated is REALLY important, as bladder infections come easily otherwise. Our daughter is now 11 and can run a mile in 10 minutes. Remarkably healthy. Keep going and do everything the medical people tell you. Best wishes.
