My baby was 45 days when she was diagnosed with Biliary artresia. She went through Kasai, there are so many questions in my mind like how much time it will take jaundice level to come down, when will itching of baby go down, when will yellowness of skin and eyes go down. Last month has been really tough for us.

Appreciate quick response.

Best regards.

Hi!!! Here at the Geneva hospital they told us that these things take time, a few months. It is all on a case by case basis so it's always better if you ask the doctors that operated your baby. Our son had the Kasai two months ago and his eyes and skin look better but still yellow, his itchiness is less but some days it seems to be a bit more. With this condition you have to be patient as things take time and there are a lot of things that have no explanation, they just happen. Take one day at a time and whenever you feel like talking or reading about everyone's experience just don't hesitate in contacting us through this forum. This is a huge step having you join us and I hope you find it useful. All the best in the recovery of your baby.

Hi Richachhabda , as Bentrij82 says it's different for every baby, so best to talk to your consultant. We have more information on biliary atresia and the Kasai on the CLDF website, where you can also download the ba leaflet (childliverdisease.org/Infor...

Please also don't hesitate to get in touch with CLDF for any information or advice, even if you just need a chat

This is truly the hard part or it was for me anyhow, every baby is different and recovery times and how well all vary there is not set it stone answer. My husband and I would get the blood work done soon as we could just to get some sort of confirmation we were doing the right thing. We felt frustrated by all the doctors "wait and see" approach but it is. The first 6 months were the most difficult for us we are all most 2 years out from all this happening and it is a fact of life for us now. Babies are beautiful and resilient enjoy your bundle of joy. So glad you have joined!
