Hello Ebony, Sounds like 2012 wasn't the best year ever. Would like to be supportive but could you give us a few more details about your problems with cholesterol. Are you on medication? What are your cholesterol levels?

Hello ebony 2011, Happy New Year to you!! It seems that 2012 was not kind to you. You will feel depressed from both the post operative depression of an amputation and the post shock of the heart failure. These are to be expected but not ignored. Does your GP have advice for you? It is easy to think that only your consultant surgeons have the answers to your questions but a good GP with all your history at their fingertips should be the first port of call.

It is good that you are concentrating on the future with exercise. How is your diet? Your weight? These should be again discussed with your GP. Make an appointment in the next few days, write down your worries and questions that you want to ask him and take your next of kin with you to be your support and prompter.

All the best to you and let us know how you get on.

Hello Ebony...well a new year and and new start for you! I agree with both of the above posts...let us know your cholestrol levels in detail and if you haven't got them ask your doctor and they should print them off for you. Also as patch14 said talk to you GP about how you are feeling, it's perfectly understandable that you feel depressed after what you've experienced.

All the best for this new year and keep in touch here - I've found a lot of support on this site and you will too.

hi ebony 2011 sorry to hear of your troubles ,please be careful taking medicines .

I was really healthy before April 2011 i went to docs for spots on knees and elbows and a bit of numbness on my toes nothing else just curious what was happening ,i am a age 48 female ,since taking statins my body is falling apart i have been on rosuvastatin ,fenofibrate, simvastatin and pravastatin all had side effects im fed up with them my cholesterol was 12.1 and the specialist kind of scared me .

i have come off all the statins i will never take another one ever i am intermittent fasting i eat between 11am and 7pm i have been doing it for 2 months now my levels have come down from 7.9 to 6.2 in 2 months all i take are opti omega 3 capsules .

I have been referred to a specialist who i see tomorrow if this one doesnt listen i will just carry on on my own .my left arm is hard to use sometimes and i have lots of lipids under my skin and my legs have lost shape this is all from statins .

have you tried intermittent fasting ?
