Lipoprotein (a) also known as LP(a) should really be below 0.30mmol/L. Vitamin C deficiency is a primary culprit for this condition. I would suggest you try eating (on a daily base) 1-2 oranges and also using some lemon juice in your cooking maybe on salads. Do this for 2 months, also add a Vitamin C supplement of say 500mg or 1000mg (one per day is enough) and getting re-tested in 2 months and you may be surprised by the results. Regards

Thank you to Traci, Frank and Betabalance for your help and comments. It is so re-assuring to know there are friends out there willing to offer support and advice. Frank - I will try increasing my vit C intake. Traci - thanks for the link. And Beta - I appreciate the congrats. I thought I had done well with change of diet and then consultant burst my bubble. I suppose he had my interests in mind but seems intent on prescribing statins which I am anxious to avoid. Thank you all once more.

Hi,

This link about Lp (a) might be useful.

Seems like the reference range is under 50. I know somebody else asked about this on this site, seems like it is becoming more usual to test for it.
