Is there is a common ingredient in statins and fibrates? I'm now on my 5th one and have the same allergic reaction from all of them.

i.e. like ants crawling all over me causing constant itching. Maybe it's one the binding ingredients.

Yes, I don't think they have anything in common except possibly the binding and bulking material. I wonder if you can get tests to find out if there's one you have a problem with. Anyone know?

Sounds horrendous. What does your GP say? Surely you can't be expected to put up with that side effect just because the pills are doing their job? Is there anything else other than statins that could help lower your levels? Diet, exercise, plant sterols etc.? Worth a try perhaps.

Thinking of getting sterol supplements from health suppliers, and taking those special drinks. Apparently nuts are also good for lowering cholesterol. Probably go nuts trying.

Morrisons have their own brand, but it contains a lower dose than Benecol, so watch out for that. I've not seen the other own brands.
