if your having a heart attack and you got pain in your left arm how long could that pain last for

I don't know the record, but it can last more than a week, if you live that long. Seek help.

Hi Roxy,

As said there is no hard and fast rule the pain/numbness i had in my arm went away within 20 mins of sitting down.

If the pain is associated with even mild chest pain/discomfort it is a classic sign of Angina, and needs to be treated ASAP.

To put it plainly it could be just a few seonds and then you could be dead or it could be longer and you could improve or be rushed to hospital for help. There are no rules other than dial 999.

Never mind the length of time you have the pain. For goodness sake get help!!! If anyone has a pain anywhere that is unexplained see your Dr immediately or ring 999!

since i asked this question the pain asnt gone ive still got it now like pins and needles feeling ive stil been doin everyday fings cooking cleaning etc but its been very painful im 34 i jus feel stupid calling 999 its been bout 5days now wouldnt it have got alot worse if it was a heart attack

No, it does not necessarily get worse. It's random. It might even improve a bit. And then get a lot worse. Call 999, or at least go to a walk-in. It's your choice, but believe me, I've heard this too often (even once from a close relative) to think it's not a heart attack.
