statin side effects

I wrote about a fortnight ago, that i had started to have side effects on rosuvastatin, and was

thinking of changing again to try a third statin! I used to take my 5mg rosuvastatin and low dose

aspirin at the same time, so i recently experimented and took my statin in morning with

breakfast and my aspirin at night and bingo!! all side effects gone! as long as there is about

10 hours between the two tablets i have no symptoms, so very pleased i will not have to

switch to a different statin!!

Hello,

Very interesting finding!.

You need to look into this further. The reason people take statin in the evening is because cholesterol production takes place when we are sleeping.

How about Aspirin in the morning with breakfast or after breakfast and station in the evening before going to bed.

May be keeping a diary for 2 weeks of different times can help.

Do aspirin give tummy problems?

in reply to sandybrown

I have looked at lots of studies in American and European universities about heart attacks and strokes(they always seem more up to date than the NHS) and apparently most heart attacks and strokes occur in the morning, because that's when most activity occurs in the body regarding platelets that aid in clotting in the blood! This is suspected of causing many strokes/heart attacks, so as aspirin thins blood and reduces this clotting, the American websites regard taking aspirin before bed a good way to help reduce this! so i will continue to take aspirin at night/statin in morning, works for me, so far no statin side effects since i changed my routine, very pleased, lets hope it stays this way!!

i have heard of people on statins suddenly getting side effects months after being on them, fingers crossed!!

Thank you for your response. I agree NHS so far behind one example is the food plate.

I have done my own research and reading, also taking on line courses on medical field.

Ten years ago I was informed of high cholesterol and blood glucose levels, blood levels are being monitored. I went for blood test on Friday, I am emjoying my food and put on few kg. Waiting for blood test results to check what action is necessary.

What will happens first my health problems or Putin hitting the button?

Take care.

Bugger Putin, concentrate on your cholesterol!! anything to give us a few more years on the planet, even if everything seems to be going to hell in a handcart at the moment, life is much better than the alternative!

I just wish the NHS was better at this sort of thing but the truth is the NHS is really only there to help us once we have a problem, they are not really interested in finding out if we have a problem in the first place! If anyone reading this is worried about cholesterol/heart attack\stroke, please make sure you get all your covid shots and flu, these can also reduce risk of having any of these events, in a few years i will also make sure i have my shingles and pneumonia shots, plus if your checking the internet for health conditions always check the US websites as they are much better with up to date medications, if you only check UK websites you will only see the things that are recommended by NICE which frankly is way behind every other country!

UK, NHS have made many mistakes!, So far I have not got into this. But, during my covid infection, even with three shots, it took 21 days to get antibiotics, then it was phenomena!!, any way I recovered, e consult form filling on the internet is a waste of time.

I have already had most of my vaccination.

"pneumonia shots" , I have not been offered this.

In UK for type 2 NHS only do HbA1c testing, in India, the doctors do many more. When I asked my GP about additional testing, I was informed other tests are only done when I get to A&E!!!

There are few ongoing problems I have but NHS are not prepared to investigate. Now I am looking for a hearing loss referral, wait and see what happens.

I will be soon 76, Do not want to take any medication, for type 2 my GP pushed for standard metformin medication, I may be allergic to it, asked for another medication, the answer was I do not qualify. What is the qualification for health. ? Type 2 gets to 90% and ambulance takes me to hospital. At lease I have free health care under NHS.

No more.............
