No cant see anything about Vit D in test. Do you think I should go back to Doc and ask for further tests. When I asked for another Thyroid test he said they only have a budget for once a year.

When I go for my annual blood test, I get more than 30 results.

Maybe they are failing me, should I change Doctor or see Manager of Surgery?

Every NHS, GP surgery has the same guide lines therefore you can request for printed results, graph showing variance.

You have had the TSH tested - which comes from the Pituitary Gland and tells the thyroid to produce T4 - a storage hormone. You have not posted the ranges but I can see your TSH is VERY high in range which means it is trying VERY hard to kick start your thyroid into producing Thyroid hormones.

You also need to have the following tested - FT4 - FT3 and the Anti-bodies TPO & Tg. Rarely are they all done on the NHS and so people remain unwell - and treated with endless other pills and potions for various symptoms. If you are in a position to have Private Testing at home - then click onto the link below and then onto ABOUT TESTING. There you will find various companies offering various packages of tests.

Before Thyroid testing came into being in the very early 70's - anyone with raised cholesterol had their thyroids treated :-) Everything in the body is connected.

The main role of a statin in many cases is to reduce inflammation - so taking a good dose of VitD may do the same - it is anti-inflammatory and a steroidal pro-hormone - so much more than a vitamin !

Do you have gut issues ?

Marz thanks for your comments. I have made appt with Doc but have to wait until Nov 14th. The results from my last blood test are as I typed done on Oct 3rd. Talking gut issues, I do have bubbly loose stools at moment. What does this mean?

I do take Vit D3 1000iu I was offered Statins but declined after reading side effects.

Yes I read all your thread - am assuming you meant TSH - where you had typed YSH in your opening post. 😊 Good you are taking VitD - what was your result when tested ?

I asked about the gut as poorly guts can indicate malabsorption of nutrients. It sounds as if you are eating something that is causing irritation - gluten ?

Did you look at the link I posted for you above ? Are you taking any other meds or supplements. ?

No no other Meds, try to avoid! but yes I do take Multi Vitimins for Woman over 50.

Had much stress my Son died 2 yrs ago now and its been so hard to cope with.

His friends have been wonderful to me.

Sometimes Multi-vits contain too many fillers. Also not enough of some ingredients and too many of another should we increase. Far better to test individually. It appears you have a thyroid issue so testing of B12 - Folate - Ferritin and VitD is vital. Always obtain copies of your results so you can monitor your progress and check what has been missed. We have to become our own health advocates ! Never accept normal either as a response from the GP - that is an opinion rather than a result. Your GP will want to prescribe a statin when it would be better to treat the thyroid ! I have posted the link above for you - where you can learn more about the thyroid so you are well informed when you see your GP in November.

I am sorry you have had a difficult time and hope you soon fine optimal help with your health.

Thank you for tips and advice, I feel more confident to follow and will follow up after appointment has been made. Also will follow the Thyroid link as well you have suggested. The more one learns the more one is confident to comment on what is advised at Doctors appointments. I don't like going to different Docs and Locums as you have to start from the begging each time and also run out of time to explain how your feeling or what ones feeling. Perhaps vital information.

I live in Crete and we have to keep all our own records - which seems very grown up :-) We can go and see anyone with these and have a great freedom of choice. I rarely see a Doc but when I do the discussions seem to be on an equal footing - which is a positive. They are also open to discussion - thoughts and ideas !

Nice Island, I've been to Crete on holiday in the past.

Yours seems a much better system where you are up to speed with your own health and much more able to help yourself. One person commented they get 30 test results mine is 6. Some how I feel I'm being neglected and yet paid my due's all my life into the NHS system that now supplies far more to others than just maintaining a state of health.

Thanks for reply, Have made appointment with Doc but not until 14th Nov. I asked nurse to take bloods she cant without Doc's say so. I will make sure I get results with ranges printed. The pain between shoulder blades goes with 1 Ibuprofen 400mg.
