Hi 9dee9, high cholesterol is very prominent these days and one of the best way to cure it is to opt natural methods such as consumption of healthy diet and light workout. Surely your cholesterol level has gone down because of the healthy routine you followed. Generally, to tackle this problem, the food rich in soluble fiber such as fruits, salad, oats, etc. must be major component of your daily diet accompanied with 30 minutes of brisk walk daily as suggested by Dr. Janet Brill, nutrition, health and fitness expert. One must not forget to drink 8-10 glasses of water daily. This routine can help many to cut down their cholesterol.

Thanks Kathy24, the only thing i want to do now is to add more physical activity into my day, changing my diet and quitting smoking was pretty hard for a bit , but i can see it has been well worth the struggle.

The best person to ask is your GP, also ask for a risk analysis and full explanation. Watching out for hidden and free sugar in food and drinks with regular exercise can help towards a healthy life.

I refused statin four years ago and went on life style change, only time will tell.

you can ask your GP to do a QRISK analysis, I worked of JBS3 rick analysis to help a GP to test the Internet application.

It is the duty of a GP and also to offer guidance on life style change. You can say so to your GP!, please do not look at HNS food plate it needs updating.

Human body needs cholesterol to function, cholesterol affect different people in different ways. As long as your general health is fine you can avoid medication.

Your Total to HDL ratio is 3.2 and your triglycerides are low which is fine stop worrying. Carry on with your new lifestyle and eating

Thanks Mark for your reply, im feeling less worried now. My doctor had still wanted me to start statins, because i have high blood pressure also, which i take medication for, but i refused , so we will revisit in 3 months. the thing that gets me though is he had told me that diet and lifestyle change was not going to make that much of a difference.

well I will add in more exercise and my next visit the numbers will be even lower.
