I came across this "free sugar" in an on-line course on food. Very interesting.

Did Google and found this link gives some explanation.

I haven't read the link yet but I've been doing lots of research. It is becoming more and more apparent that sugar is the evil in our diet, not saturated fat. There's loads of information out there. I'm currently reading a book by David gillespie. I plan on cutting out sugar soon, once I have all the information. Sugar (fructose in particular) encourages oxidation. Most cholesterol only becomes problematic when it's oxidised. Like you said, there's a long list of problems it causes.

And stay well away from 'low fat' foods. They simply put sugar or corn syrup in to replace the fat. The body can't process fructose so the liver turns it straight into fat and eventually you end up with fatty liver disease like me

Thank you. Yes, I am staying away from low fat food intake. I also did a course on line on liver to get a better understanding!

FREE SUGAR!, HIDDEN SUGAR! who needs it.

I'm currently trying to avoid anything with added sugar, it's quite hard to do. Easy to cut out the obvious stuff like cakes and biscuits and sweets, but sugar is added to a lot of stuff you wouldn't expect such as curry and pasta sauces.

I think cutting down on sugar is good health advice generally, as it's very easy to overeat sugary foods.
