Me and my sisters are suffering from Familial Hypercholesterolaemia. I am 53 years old, very active, working full time, jogging, zumbaing and whatever activity is there, I am always there..but my cholesterol remains on 6 - 7 mg.which is high..I was on statins 20 mg, but it used to make me depressed and tired. so I reduced to 10 mg. and I feel better. my last check was at 6 (with 10mg. for two weeks)..I will have to check my next level if its within 6 or so with 10 mg. how can you help with some advice? many thanks...am scared of stroke, etc

I will, thanks Suki. if yours is dietary related, then its easy to reduce it with some dedication and commitment, mine is hereditary..so there is no stopping to it. all the best...and I will keep you informed.

My advice would be to keep your statin dose as low as possible although it might bring you into conflict with health professionals who want your TC lower. 6-7 is not bad at all, sometimes your genetics are just against you. Sometimes we all have to see the bigger picture, bad side effects, risk of CVD etc etc and then come to what feels right for you. Not easy I know because I've done it.
