This American article talks about the side effects of statins. I'm not sure if the memory loss is a direct result of the drug or because the cholesterol has been lowered.

Hi Here is some current American research which has come across swellings in neurons in brain cells being treated with statin drugs. This may identify what is happening in people taking statin drugs who are experiencing fuzzy thinking and memory loss. Research is continuing into possible genetic causes of hypersensitivity to statins.
