What are cholesterol and levels? do we need medication to lower the levels?
What a question that will get many answers. Some see C as a villain, some as an indicator of something else going on in the body, C is a healer. There are those who think that C should be very low, there are those who have inherited high C (FH) and have to undergo all sorts of tests and treatments. For myself I question every decision my Dr tells me but my husband is of the "Doctor knows best" school and takes pills that he has absolutely no idea for what!!
If you have faith in your GP and you are happy with what he/she decides for you then follow his advice. It is NOT compulsory and he/she should welcome all and every question you have on your treatment.
For myself it will be a long time before I take any medication that is not for a life threatening problem (i.e cancer or heart disease) I am lucky that I do not have any major health problems that warrant any treatment.
If your GP has told you that your C levels are too high and you need medication see if you can change your lifestyle first. Smoking, alcohol intake, diet and exercise are all factors that can impact on your health. Reducing your C when it is trying to heal you I think is wrong but that is MY opinion and you must make up your own mind before taking any steps contrary to your GP's advice. All the best to you
Hi,
Thanks for your response. I always want to check on medication before I take it. My wife NHS person, will leave it to HNS to manager her health. In the last two years I have learent a lot on both choleaterol and blood sugar. Life style change has helped me. As I have always been a wide person and my hight has gone down my BMI is high, I am healthy, eat and drink what I want with in limits, at 67 have to accept any damage or build up in the blood flow system in my body. Had my second life-line screening check this month, results are good, only time will tell.
