Quadraplegic Cerebral Palsy

My grand daughter Sophie is now 12 yrs old. She was born with CP due to hospital negligence.Sophie has just had spinal surgery and leg surgery and can only see and hear, nothing else for herself. Her mum does everything else for her 24/7,365...

Sophie has to have a special air bed which is costing my daughter a lot of money to run, plus electric suction pump and electric hoists throughout the house.

My question is can my daughter get any help towards all this extra electricity costs?

She is a single parent and her other child has ADHD. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi there! I am a journalist filming a TV documentary about Cerebral Palsy for my dissertation - Looking for multiple case studies about how funding is difficult and how people are coping. It would be nice to see some case studies of real people getting through their difficulties and to speak out about their experiences to promote the cause and help other people get through it. If this is something you would be interested in helping me with feel free to get in touch with me.

Email: shannon-stevenson@hotmail.com

Hope all is well!

Best wishes,

Shannon

Hi Shannon

I am not entirely sure if you are still looking for case studies...

We are currently fundraising for specialist equipment for my nephew who also has quadriplegic cerebral palsy

Please see all the information contained in the link below

gofundme.com/thisisAdam

I am sure Koli "Adam's mum" will be willing to discuss her experience and plight with trying to get access to funding and services

She an be contacted via Adams Facebook page which is

facebook.com/adamsumbrella/...

Please assist Adam and Koli to help raise awareness and give disabled children and their families a real voice

Thank you in advance much appreciated

Hi Janet

I hope you and Sophie are well..

The only thing I can suggest is contacting your utility provider for example British Gas or N Power (whoever your electricity provider is) and explaining that there is a disabled child living in the property and see if they have any special discounts for people who need to use a lot of electricity for medical reasons i.e to charge medical equipment etc

Also I'm not sure if you already have this but you should receive a council tax exemption/reduction as there is disabled child residing in the property and a single persons discount which is 25 percent off the council tax bill

Hope that helps

Xx

Dear Janet,

I have recently joined this forum.

My grand daughter also has cp due to hospital negligence.

I hope you got the help you needed.

Love to you and Sophie
