I am a 33yr old woman I have a 10 month old son and a wonderful husband. I joined this group because I have been having issues with the way I have been treated Medical, Councilors, Psychologist and Hospitals with my treatment and care from them. I want someone to hear my story and if someone else has had some or all the same things happen know that your not the only person going through this kind of thing.

I have a lot of pain issues and mental issues. But with the pain issues the doctor I have doesn't want to treat me for what is wrong, he keeps passing the buck to other doctors and sending me to specialist that are almost 2hrs from my home knowing I have a young child. When it comes to my mental side of thing, the psychologist I have does an okay job when my medications are at question. But the issue is with the councilor in his office that he has seeing me. I was just diagnosed with a very high functioning version of Asperger's Disorder and I asked my councilor to explain the disorder to me. She informed me the don't treat the Asperger's, they treat the anxiety, depression and other things that I was diagnosed for over 10yrs now and they are self explanatory but the one I am confused with they won't help me understand. With my councilor I think it is an age thing or a racial thing who knows.

It is probably not an age issue since you are still young and with a small child. But I have always found that men are treated seriously for the same complained that women are not.

Also lack of knowledge might have something to do with it. Sending you to a specialist who probably knows more is probably the right thing to do.

And despite it being publicised so much, many people still don’t know much about Asperger. In some countries it is not even recognised as a disability. With my son it has been an uphill battle to get any recognition.

With my aspergers I have issues with a female councilor. But with my primary doctor he is close to my age and it drives me crazy how he does things because sometimes I think in his mind I am faking all my problems because I am in my early 30's. I hate to burst his bubble if he would actually read my old records he wanted sent to his office he would see my pain issues started when I was a teenager do to all the sports, weight training and working on cars is what has caused all my issues in my back and legs. But as he puts it my weight is the whole problem. But it really isn't the main factor, it has some affect since I got older but not when I first started having these problems.
