Reoccurring brain tumor

Hello, almost four years ago my uncle had surgery to remove a brain tumor. It was benign. He had physical and occupational therapy and recovered fine. This year he had another one. Same thing. He is in his early 70’s. Has no wife or kids. My mother spoke with his doctor because she understands English better and the doctor said the tumors will keep coming back. Does anyone have an experience with this?

Hi,

Sorry I have no experience with this but I wish you and your family all the best. My only thought is that sometimes doctors stop operating because of a person's age. However health rather than age should be the issue. My step-dad had a major heart operation in his eighties and recovered well. Speak to your uncle about his options and always get a second opinion. You never know how someone else may be able to help.

Hi fallen-leaf,

Unfortunately I can't help with any personal knowledge of this, but I did a short trawl online to see what information there might be out there which could help. The NHS sitenhs.uk/conditions/benign-br... is quite informative and within that, it suggests that the Cancer Research UK website offers more, and will be a reliable source for you.

Very best wishes.

brain tumours are all potentially malignant, capable of recurring, except few rare ones.the

common one glioma even when excised tends to recur in a more aggressive form.

so as such there is hardly a thing like benign brain tumour
