Hi Nichola 1971,

It doesn't really help when government keeps changing the name of the benefit and the rules, does it, but as I understand it, this is what's an enhanced rate of what's now called ESA, and that's dealt with by Jobcentre Plus, once you are found to be eligible.

So maybe a visit or call to the nearest in your locality might get you the answers you are looking for. In general it's probably far easier (and often quicker) to go in, if you are able. Telephoning can be a frustrating and lengthy business.

I should point out that this advice isn't given on any real firm footing, and it might be that someone else has a better route for you to get the help you need.

But good luck with it anyway. It couldn't possibly do harm to take this route. It's just that it might not be the best or quickest way.

Do let us know how you get on and what worked for you. It's of such help to others who will follow in your footsteps. Best wishes.

As I’m in the same position I was told they have a back log they are trying to get through and appts are 6-8 weeks behind

I’ve now had my Assesment after putting my application in before Christmas and received a email couple of weeks ago saying they can now make a decision as they have all the information they need hope this helps but maybe a idea to call it might rush it through slightly

Good luck

Tracy
