Hello All,

Welcome to this our third - ' Feelgood Friday',

Thank you all for your comments previously, how was your week? We would like to hear about your last week, your highlights - maybe something good happened or maybe you had a bad week that you thought might never end? Either way - good or bad - WE would like you to share it with us, make us smile or shout out about it don't let it get you down.

We would like to share our highlight with you - our baby Great Grandson celebrated his 1st birthday with us and loved trying to blow out his candle on his birthday cake, this made us all smile.

Now what would you like to share we are listening

Best wishes to you all

Belated birthday greetings to your Great Grandson, I've had a fairly decent week with just one bad thing happening, as stated previously I've had a really bad eye for the last 2 yrs resulting in me needing a cornea graft, after reading about rejection I decided I didn't want one, last Tuesday I had the appt at the hospital and discussed my worries with the consultant, who, after listening understands my worries and is happy for me to walk away, I'm also walking away from having the cataract in the other eye done due to the issues I've had following the first one, the downside was that he took the pressures, I was born with glaucoma, right eye complete with cataract fine, left eye 50!!! Sent home with more drops and water tablets, I was on the tablets as a capsule last year with no problems, this time there's problems with the manufacturers so it was a tablet, tummy cramps and vomiting followed on Wednesday, rang the hospital yesterday and told to go down for a pressure check, thankfully it's come right down, I'm back in the glaucoma clinic next Thursday, due to all these issues I'm now going to be registered as partially sighted, something I've always known could happen, the other downside is that I was meeting a friend for a pub lunch today but I cancelled as I'm really tired and will be at work Saturday and Sunday

Hi Jennymary, while it does sound like you've had a tough time with your eyes this week, I think its so good that you've been able to do your research and make that decision for yourself. Very empowering and good that your doctor is listening to you.

I hope you get to rearrange your pub lunch soon!

Hi Jennymary, I'm so sorry to hear about the difficulties you've had with your eyes and resulting sight loss. It is a brave decision to walk away from a treatment option, and I agree with 'freezingspark' very empowering, but you have done so by being well informed. I'm glad your doctor is supporting you. Coming to terms with sight loss is difficult, no matter how expected or inevitable. You are not alone. The Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB( have some useful information on their site:

Keep in touch. Folks here are very supportive and I'm sure that there are others here who have faced similar decisions and experiences.

Best wishes.

Happy 1st birthday to your Great Grandson! What a lovely celebration. I'm sure he thoroughly enjoyed the cake too...!

I have had a good week overall, I went to the races at the weekend with my dad which was good fun. It was a special one for the Armed Forces (he is ex-RAF) so got to enjoy looking around some very big helicopters and getting dad to regale us with tales of his flying days.

It's been an OK week, have come away on holiday for a whole month to the sun, sea & sand.Away from the dismal weather of the UK. One problem getting up at some ungodly hour to catch the flight. Next ungodly problem is I've got to come back and it will feel very much colder as there has been no period to get used to the winter cold. Out will come the winter woollies for a trip to Scotland.

Hope you are all well.

A full on week an no time to write on Friday! Mother-in-law is still waiting for a brain scan for possible dementia, but in the meantime the Occupational Health visitor has been round. MIL blocked my way to the door, clutched the keys and wouldn't let her in, as expected. Took 5 minutes of reasoning, and then the threat of my just letting her in round the back for her to concede. Once she was in it was completely fine and we had a good chat. Unfortunately not much OH can help with, so now referred to social services for a care assessment. More people who she won't let in...

Had a gardener round to quote, so hopefully someone else regularly visiting will help with her mistrust of visitors.

New symptoms this week - really poor memory ie. forgetting what she had for dinner only 90 minutes after eating it, and questioning me about who owns her house and why the people who used to live there don't come back (it's her house and she's lived there for 30 years...). She's still hiding chocolate despite promising me she won't buy any more - just removed a pack of mars bars from her tea towel drawer. Could be serious if she eats all those with her diabetes, but can't really ban her from shopping. Seems to be a new challenge every week which is very draining.
