Hi my name is Michelle and it’s a pleasure to meet you all! My Neuropathy is so bad and yet better than before as they put me on Baclofen and clonazapam 2mg. Yes it’s helped my muscles and mobility pretty well. However the flare ups are horrible and I’m currently suffering from severe Edema swollen painful legs. I have been diagnosed with other medical diseases but I would appreciate input from all of you and of course, I shall help you as well. It’s nice to meet other people who are all suffering from Neuropathy and we understand one another, not be judged and to totally understand how each of us all feel. I’m very happy to be part of this community and say to you all........ STAY STRONG AND PROUD AND BEAUTIFUL AND POSITIVE!

Hello franklin1970. I'm sorry to hear of your problems but pleased that the drugs are helping. My advice (for what its worth) is to keep as active as possible and to follow your doctors advice but keep asking questions until you have all the answers that you want.

My neuropathy is not due to diabetes and at the moment no cause has been found despite loads of tests over the last 3 years. This is not uncommon in Small Fibre Neuropathy. I am on Gabapentin, one of the drugs for neuropathic pain. It has slowly been increased by my neurologist and now the severe burning pain in my feet and legs is under control. I still get numbness and tingling and some often quite bizarre symptoms. My understanding is that in Diabetic Neuropathy both small and large nerve fibres are involved.

My general health is reasonabky good so I walk as much as I am able (generally using trekking pole(s)). And I pursue as many interests as I have time for.

I'm not sure what the future holds but I know that the condition is for life so I just make the most of every day. I feel lucky that I did not get it until I was 68 as I understand that it can affect people of any age

Good luck and I hope that your leg oedema (I am English!) reduces and that your other health problems are under control

Ty Hilsho yes I had c spine c x Ray yesterday and awaiting bone scan and leg pressure testing! Yes I was on Gabapentin years ago as this started attacking my body when I was 22 years old and first they thought M. S. But after multiple Neurologist docs and electro shockwave test on brain an then nope you don’t have M. S. And then they thought lupus checked me twice and nope didn’t have it then I was told I had a Central Nervous system disease that was attacking my whole body only to find out I had Neuropathy all over my body and this is one of many things I had to go through but staying positive is the key! Yes I make the most of everyday! Ty so much for sharing and your kind advice. Take care!
