I am 37 , i have problem of burning feet from decades , it was very minor and off and on whenever i stand prolonged . but now since 3 month all the day it burn and not let me sleep. It involve soles of both feet

i am non smoker , non alcoholic , non diabetic , my recent blood test including liver , renal , blood film all in normal range , i have 4mm gall stone and mildly elevated serum amylase and lipase but no GI symptoms

when ever i do exercise and walk burning increase , if all the day i eat less i feel comfortable at night

sometimes i think its because of food or any nerve compression , which speciality i should consult and should i go for MRI to rule out nerve compression

Hi. I started to have numbness, tingling, burning hot and freezing cold feet last May. I was eventually referred to a Neurologist for a nerve induction test as my doctor said I could have peripheral neuropathy and this was normal. I have had blood tests for B12 and Folic Acid which was within the normal range and last week I had a blood circulation test which was also normal. I have now been prescribed Gabapentin which I have only been taking for a few days but make me feel sleepy. Have you had your B12 checked as this could cause tingly and burning feet? Good luck and let us know how you get on xx

Hi there,

Like Karjade I too had burning feet on my soles, then numbness and tingling and at one point couldn't bare the bedsheets touching my feet at night. 5 years ago I was diagnosed with small fibre neuropathy by a nerve induction test. They thought at one point it was i was suffering from Erthromelalgia

It became so painful to walk -only way to explain was like walking on pebbles. I now have custom orthotic insoles and take pregabalin daily. This has helped tremendously, the medication does slow me down a bit, but at least I can walk with no problems and the burning has ceased.

My case is linked to sjogrens, I have coeliac disease as well.

I also take daily thiamine with regards to the nerve pain.

I would hope they send you for a nerve conduction test soon, as sore feet everyday wears you down.

x

Hi I have suffered with burning feet and tingling. I mainly got it at night. I couldn't sleep with it, I'd get up think my skin was dry and cover them in cream. I didn't think it would be anything to do with my B12 def as I've had that for 15 yrs and only recently got the burning feet. Went Drs who done more bloods and I was also def in Vit D. I've read so many times that this is a sign of Vit D def. my Gp prescribed me Hux 20,000unit to take 5 tablets at once for 2 days. Since I've not had the burning feet for over 2 weeks. Not sure what my level is now, but hoping this has stopped it. Get your Go to check B12 but mainly Vit D.

You are right about food, I have the same condition too. I observed whenever I eat in small quantities I feel much better. And if I have a large meal I wait until I am hungry again before having anything, else, my palms and feet start burning along with my skin feeling tight. Same goes for spicy meals, the burning starts as soon as I eat spicy food.

I am guessing, we have sensitive digestive system and lack enough digestive enzymes to break complex foods. Similar to any motor or machine which causes heat when overloaded, our digestive system produces more heat.
