There are quite a few positive stories on "Tinnitus Talk" about tinnitus perception being reduced by talking gaba .

I wonder if anyone has had similar positive experiences ?

If so what dosage what taken please?

Thanks

hi there. I’m on pregabalin which is similar to gabapentin. I’ve not noticed any difference with that. All the best.

Without knowing the specific thread(s) which you've seen on Tinnitus Talk, it's difficult to say what claims are being made for Gabapentin.

From what I've read online - hearinghealthmatters.org/wa... - it seems that Gabapentin has been repurposed in the belief that it will have a positive effect on a condition it wasn't originally developed to treat.

The idea appears to be a drug designed to medicate seizure disorders may have an alternative usage for tinnitus relief, if there is a body of evidence which establishes that tinnitus is caused by hyperactive neural activity (this is the same broad area of study that neuromodulation devices like Lenire are addressing).

It's a good theory, but its not proven - Gabapentin has fallen foul in testing environments of the placebo effect, with a significant percentage of subjects reporting reductions in tinnitus severity when being administered with a control placebo dosage.

Thank you very much to getting back to me .I have read about gabapentine on " Tinnitus Talk" which is an American forum I believe

I believe Hazel and Markku from TT are both European, but the site does have a lot of US-based users, which can add to that perception about the forum.

I've taken Gabapentin for years, in highly-varying doses. I've never noticed ANY affect on my tinnitus experience. CBD oil, in the ear seems to help a tiny bit. Noise retraining is slightly helpful. Good rest & nutrition seems to help.

Hello! I had very loud T for years, with extremely crazy spikes with suicidal thoughts! I began to search frantically on the web because science does not give me any answer.

If you TRY ALL of this, I'm sure in two or three month you’ll be much better!!

1.- Mother tincture of Passinflower plant at night, but you don,t have to take medicine for sleep!

2.- Magnesium L-Threonate (only this Magnesium works well with T.) in the morning and five hours before sleep.

3.- GABA with Gingko Biloba and L-Theanine before breakfast.

4.- Control your blood pressure and detects if you snore or have cervical problems.

5.- Protect your inner ear all the time you can!

Keep in touch and best wishes!!

I have tried. Hasn’t helped. Doctor prescribed for sleep. Did absolutely nothing. If you find the cure… please let us all know. 👼

Hi, I was put on gabapentin for severe headaches and pressure in my head . I also have facial twitches and tinnitus. My tinnitus has reduced hugely since I've been on the gabapentin. I am currently on 1200mg a day, and on average I'm finding I have to increase my dose every couple of weeks. Not sure if its coincidental though
