Hi Harrier

I would suggest as a starting point that there are some exercises on our main website -

tinnitus.org.uk/relaxation - for guided meditation and general ideas on breathing exercises.

For an audio relaxation exercise, there is a streamable/downloadable MP3 file here - tinnitus.org.uk/relaxation-...

Hi Harrier58 As TinnitusUKPat says the BTA website is a mine of information and you can request paper copies of everything - if you're a member of the BTA 🙂

Thank you - I use the Calm app but wanted something specific for T if such a thing exists. I'll have a trawl tomorrow.

If you like apps there's one called Resound Relief . I don't use apps very much but other forum members have mentioned this one. There are six or so guided meditations. Plus lots of sounds .

I use the resound relief app mainly for the sounds - you can mix a library of souns to help relax or sleep.

I am currently trying the OTO app and it die have some really good guided relaxation stuff. Stories to get to sleep etc. Only downside is it has a monthly cost but you get a free trial.

T-minus has an iPhone app and their reallt good relaxation and soundtherapy tracks is found on spotify, apple music and now on Amazon music.

They have a new ocean waves for tinnitus soundscape that I’m enjoying at the moment on Calm. I’m also looking for a specific meditation but have not found anything. I’m trying noise habituation at the moment but no joy as yet. Noise 24/7 😖

Hi Dobradee, yes I tried the ocean waves. I used Calm a lot during the Pandemic before I had T It would be good but listening to anything makes my T spike

Hi I have tried loads of free relaxation apps and also looked at them on you tube. The best one for me personally is a chap called John Kabbat Zinn he's an American with a mild accent that I find very calming. He is on You Tube for free, he does guided meditation for 10 15 and 20 mins he also does guided body scan for 45 or 30 mins. He's a university professor who has made his life's work in meditation techniques he has written books and runs courses, He's even been interviewed by Oprah so he's quite famous in this field of study. I was recommended to him a few years ago by a therapist I was seeing for severe anxiety and panic disorder and I have tried some other people out aswell but I find his technique works the best for me. It's not tinnitus related but I find it really helpful calming and relaxing. I haven't had a panic attack for 6 years so I'm doing something right but I still get very anxious at times and I never know when this is going to happen as I haven't been able to figure out a particular trigger to the anxiety. I just have to deal with it when it happens and JKZ is my go to self therapy. This last couple of years have been particularly bad trying to cope with vertigo, tinnitus, ears that are itchy scaly and getting blocked up every 3/4 months aswell as some hearing loss on top of covid and lockdowns which has been awful for everyone's mental health not just mine. Also covid has affected GP services and getting taken seriously for what I'm sure GP's see as a minor problem that they automatically seem to assume is anxiety related has been very difficult. I agree that vertigo tinnitus and ear problems have caused my anxiety to spike but these problems are not caused by my anxiety there is another underlying cause for them which I am still struggling to get sorted. Anyway sorry for long post, my rant is over, give JKZ a try see how you get on take care.

Thank you, yes I have been suffering bouts of vertigo past 4 months cant get to ENT. Now got horrible T. Actually I can't listen to anything as it just increases the volume - just got to keep listening to the tunes in my head.

agree with beagleears that JKZ in the man for this stuff. Amazon sell a book with a cd containing the guided meditations here is a link - ignore the book title the meditations contained on the CD that come with the book are used by the NHS for calming down in relation your reaction to tinnitus and they do work.amazon.co.uk/Mindful-Way-Th...
