I recall that my Tinnitus started shortly after I began taking Blood Pressure medications some 10 years ago due to my stressful job. Never experienced it before. Now the Tinnitus comes and goes during most days. It usually comes when I get stressed over something or my Blood Pressure begins to rise above 130/80. I'm usually around 115/75 with the medication so when the Tinnitus starts I check my BP and sure enough I'm over 130/80 and climbing. Once it goes down the Tinnitus goes away or the tone diminishes quite a bit until it fades away. Fortunately it is not 24/7 in my case. Not yet anyway. I have other friends who have tinnitus and one believed his came about due to a neck injury and another friend believes his came about through his work in a very loud industrial work enviroment. I try to ignore and not focus on the tinnitus as best as I can.

Thank you for your post, I find that very interesting what you’ve mentioned about blood pressure. I think this might apply to me . I just wish more research was done in this field. Maybe research has been done. Your doing extremely well and coping . 😊

Rabbits, are you familiar with Blood Pressure UK? The British charity that concentrates on ….. you guessed. There might be something about T on there? They have a helpline.

Thank you Happyrosie, I don’t actually have high blood pressure as such , it’s just that Paja mentioned his/she said theirs fluctuated and so therefore I put two and two together and wondered if my pressure that I get might apply.Thank you for replying

A lot of people I have come across experienced tinnitus after medication, and anything to do with dopamine inhibitors (a lot of anxiety and stress drugs) seem to be at the top of the list

Yes, I agree. I believe it's strongly related to taking medications and there should be more research in this area if not being done presently.

It’s a bit of a roundabout circle then as people are prescribed the stress and anxiety drugs possibly to help them cope with the stress and anxiety of severe tinnitus, I’ve always maintained drugs do more harm than good.

Mine started after I started taking blood pressure medication. Amlodipine and then ibersartan. I'm on candesartan at the moment, but I have to take other medication with it, clopidogrel and aspirins, so it's hard to know which one is causing more damage. 😔
